First post at the beginning of the school year

Omaida “Maggie” is 16 and grew up in Lawrence, MA. She lives with her mother, her two brothers and her boyfriend.

Maggie first started skipping school in high school to hang out with friends and her grades suffered. In September of 2008 Maggie was transferred to the High School Learning Center. Maggie found out this past summer that she was pregnant and is due in February 2009.

As of this first posting, according to her school, Maggie is a sophomore in terms of her credit standing. She has taken but failed the science (biology) MCAS and has not taken the math or English MCAS. Maggie’s goal is to have a healthy baby and to continue to work toward her high school diploma.
