STUDENT DIARIES

Who better to ask about the dropout crisis in Massachusetts than the experts? The students who day in and day out struggle to show up for school, stay focused, and overcome distractions and personal challenges.  Project Dropout is honored to introduce eight remarkable students who are sharing their stories through video diaries as they unfold over the course of the school year. Each has a unique perspective; each has insights that highlight the problems and point to solutions.

Check out the most recent video diary posts as they come in from each student on the dynamic blog in the center of the home page. On the right side of the page, meet each of the students before they began posting their diaries. And, if you’re interested in only seeing the diaries of a particular student, click on his or her name under “Student Blogs” on the left side of the page.

YOUR DIARIES AND THOUGHTS

Gone are the days of media being fed to passive viewers at home. We want to hear your reactions to the video diaries and to the WGBH and WBUR reports posted on this site. Tell us your stories and share your insights about a crisis that has us in its grip.  Quite frankly, we’re less interested in what isn’t working – we get that - and are much more interested in your thoughts about what is. What’s the solution to the dropout problem? How do we move ahead given the current economic situation? And, if you are residing in another state or country, are there lessons Massachusetts can learn?

We look forward to hearing from you.
